India’s stunning win propels them to the top of ODI rankings, dethroning New Zealand!

India’s dominance was clear as they won all three ODI matches against New Zealand for the first time in history.

In the first match held at Hyderabad, India’s high-powered batting line-up secured a thrilling 12-run victory.

The second match held at Raipur, the Indian seamers shone and helped the team secure an eight-wicket win. And the third and final match held in Indore, India sealed the series with yet another commanding performance.

This series victory not only cements India’s position as a top-performing team in the ODI format, but it also propels them to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, dethroning the previous leaders New Zealand.

India’s commanding victory in the first ODI match against New Zealand was thanks to a brilliant 212-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma (101) and Shubman Gill (112). Their partnership set the foundation for India to post a giant first-innings score of 385/9 in Indore.

But the run-scoring wasn’t over yet, a late flourish from Hardik Pandya (54) and Shardul Thakur (25) helped to boost the total even further. And when it was New Zealand’s turn to chase, Pandya bowled dangerous opener Finn Allen with just the second delivery of the chase; Thakur picked up three quickfire wickets in the middle overs – including two in two balls – effectively ending New Zealand’s chances of a comeback.

Even a stunning century from Kiwi opener Devon Conway wasn’t enough to deny India the win, as their bowlers and fielders put in a commanding performance to secure the victory and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

India’s victory sends them to the top of ODI Rankings, knocking England and New Zealand down a spot!

With 114 rating points, India sits at the number one spot, England follows closely behind with 113, Australia climbs to third place with 112, and New Zealand slips to fourth with 111 rating points.

But watch out, England has a chance to dethrone India as the top spot if they win their upcoming ODI series against South Africa 3-0.
